Do You Still Want to Know How to Troubleshoot the Turbocharger?

LANDTOPMALL is a store that sells turbochargers and other spare parts. Unique insights into turbochargers.

LANDTOPMALL has previously introduced a way to deal with turbocharger failures, and today we will introduce two other failures and solutions.

There is a Metal Friction Sound

black smoke from the exhaust, power drop, and abnormal noise from the supercharger.

If there is a metal friction sound, it is caused by excessive wear of the supercharger rotor bearing or thrust bearing, and the friction between the impeller and the supercharger shell. If it is not the sound of metal friction, but the sound of airflow, it is due to the high-speed rotation of the supercharger rotor, the rotating sound generated, or the air leakage caused by the poor connection at the intake and exhaust interfaces.

The former should be repaired by replacing damaged spare parts according to the wear and tear. The latter should be carefully distinguished and targeted solutions.

Bearing Damage

The supercharger bearing is damaged, the engine power is reduced, the oil consumption is high, black smoke is emitted, and the supercharger cannot work in serious cases.

Insufficient Oil Pressure and Flow

  1. Insufficient supply of lubricating oil for the supercharger journal and thrust bearing;
  2. Insufficient lubricating oil to keep the rotor journal and bearing floating;
  3. The supercharger has been running at high speed, but the lubricating oil has not been supplied in time.

Debris or Sediment Entering the Lubrication System

Oxidative Deterioration of Oil

  1. The diesel oil is overheated, and there is too much gas passing between the piston and the cylinder wall;
  2. Cooling water leaks into the oil;
  3. Improper selection of oil and failure to change the oil regularly as required.

  1. Check whether the lubricating oil pressure is normal and whether the oil quantity meets the requirements.
  2. Regularly replace the lubricating oil as required, and ensure that the lubricating oil is clean.
  3. Strictly follow the regulations, use lubricating oil, and do not mix them.
  4. The engine should be avoided to work at high temperatures, and the normal working temperature of the engine should be maintained.

Well, today we introduce the other two failure causes and troubleshooting methods of turbochargers. Those who haven’t read the previous blog can browse LANDTOPMALL’s blog. Two blogs give a complete introduction to the troubleshooting of turbochargers. Follow LANDTOPMALL if it helps you. If you need to buy spare parts, you can also choose us.
